If you are thinking of putting on your walking shoes this autumn, it’s worth paying a visit to the quaint market town of Hawes, which sits at the head of Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales. Located in the upper valley of the River Ure, Wensleydale is famous for its cheese and its main commercial production operates at Hawes. As well as the chance to sample some delicious cheeses, the area also boasts a wealth of wonderful walks around the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Here are just a few in and around the area that you can try.
9. Thwaite to Keld
Following a seven mile trail, this scenic route close to Hawes begins in the village of Thwaite and passes through Muker and Keld in a circular loop, taking in a river and fields along the way.
