Calf trapped on Yorkshire riverbank

Firefighters have rescued a young calf which was stuck on the riverbank of the River Ouse in York.

The animal was rescued at around 9am on Sunday morning, July 31, from the riverbank in the Rawcliffe and Skelton area of York, a spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

Firefighters from Huntingdon and Malton had used specialist animal rescue equipment to free the animal which was unhurt.
