Characters holding vital clues to museum’s murder mystery

ACTORS were in rehearsal yesterday for an event which will see a murder take place in the historic surroundings of a former foundry.

Staff at Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield are planning the Cluedo evening, during which visitors will interact with a cast of characters similar to those in the well-known board game.

Instead of the traditional Reverend Green and Miss Scarlet, names of the characters have been altered to reflect people associated with the museum, including Miss Silversmith and Madame Cutler.

Judith Smith, audience development officer at Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust, which runs Kelham Island, said: “This is a brand new evening event taking place in the Museum and Hawley Gallery.

“We’re really excited about this new night where teams can use their detective skills to find the identity of the murderer – just like in the Cluedo board game.

“Some of the murder suspects will entertain guests as they are eliminated one by one. We’ll be serving up a pie and pea supper to round off the evening.

“I think everyone has enjoyed playing Cluedo past and present and what better way to bring the historic surroundings of the museum to life?”
