Silversmith Chris Knight celebrates clinching one of the most prestigious prizes awarded to craftsmen in his field after his striking entry won the Museums Sheffield Metalwork Design Award.

The 10,000 accolade, which is sponsored by Sheffield Forgemasters, is given out annually to a piece of metalwork which has been designed and made in Britain.

Each piece is judged by a panel of experts, including the Duke of Devonshire, the executive director of the Crafts Council, Rosy Greenlees, and Sheffield’s Assay Master, Ashley Carson. Winning pieces are displayed by Museums Sheffield.

Mr Knight, who also lectures at Hallam University, said: “Receiving the award is testament to the support of the thriving and creative silversmithing community in Sheffield.” Picture: Chris Lawton
