Crime writer to share stage with poet

Hull crime writer Nick Quantrill will be sharing the stage with author and poet Richard Sutherland next week.

The two will share a 15-minute slot at the independent music venue The Adelphi, in De Grey Street, Hull, on December 16i as part of the Off the Road entertainment night.

The crime writer will be reading from his novel Broken Dreams and giving the audience an opportunity to hear an extract from his follow-up novel The Late Greats.

This year saw him chosen as one of the emerging bright crime writing talents for selection in The Mammoth Book of Best British Crime, alongside such writing luminaries as Ian Rankin, Colin Bateman and Christopher Brookmyre. He said: "The Adelphi has been a great influence to me in many ways.

"It has been the meeting point for many important friendships, and it has been the venue where I've had some great nights and seen some great bands, so to share the stage and read from Broken Dreams and The Late Greats is an honour and a homecoming in many ways."
