The victim gave her banking details and large payments have been made, where around £80,000 was stolen.

Janjua took the victim to a watch shop and made her buy expensive watches.

Officer in the Case DC Callum Wallace of Kirklees District CID, said: “We welcome the sentence in this case, Janjua preyed on an elderly and vulnerable woman, gained her trust, and then abused that trust in the extreme to defraud her for what was very significant sum of money.

“Police will never ask you for your account details over the phone in a cold call.

“Sadly, these scams still occur, if you receive a call asking for your personal details, please hang up. We have lots of support and advice on our website and how to report should these things happen.”
