Second man charged with murder of 'popular' West Yorkshire man

Detectives investigating the murder of a man found dead at his home have charged a second person over his death.

The body of Saleem Butt, 61, was found at his home in Batley on Thursday, April 23. He was described as a "popular" and "community spirited" neighbour.

Two men from Huddersfield and Dewsbury have both been charged with Mr Butt's murder.

Craig Stanton, 42, of Southgate, Huddersfield, was charged on Monday, May 4, and remanded into custody. He appeared for a preliminary hearing at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday.

West Yorkshire Police said this morning (Friday) that Alexander McKay, 46, of School Crescent, Dewsbury, has now also been charged with murder.

Both remain in custody while the investigation into Mr Butt's death continues.
