Men charged after victim left ‘critical’ in pub assault

TWO MEN will appear in court today over a pub assault which left the victim in a critical condition in hospital.

Officers were called to the Tawny Owl public house on Prospect Road in Ossett just after midnight on Saturday following reports of a disturbance which left a 24-year-old local man with serious injuries.

Craig Redfearn, 23, of Dewsbury Road, Lupset, and Luke Wright, 20, of Chantry Road, Lupset, will appear at Wakefield Magistrates’ Court today charged with assault.

Det Supt Simon Atkinson, from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET), said the victim appeared to have been struck to the side of his head and was knocked unconscious.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he has underwent surgery for a serious head injury and remains in a critical condition.
