99mph Leeds drug driver’s soft jail sentence will be no deterrent to criminals
‘‘HELICOPTER and seven police cars used to catch unlicensed drug driver who reached 99mph on Stanningley Bypass’’ (The Yorkshire Post, February 23).
In reality, this irresponsible idiot Brandon Ismay ends up doing just four months for his dangerous and selfish driving. The punishment should fit the crime.

If we, as a society ,are going to tolerate this, and the weak sentencing that people such as these are given, then we have little hope for our future. Not only has he endangered the public, but also those police officers who have had to catch him. Our judges and the sentencing system really need overhaul.
It would be better to put people like this away for far longer, until they have demonstrated that they can behave responsibly and to insist they repay every pound that their lunacy has cost the rest of us. Politicians and law makers, please do something about the penalties these criminals get (or get away with).
