Aggressive begging in Leeds is ruining days out for visitors: Yorkshire Post Letters
From: Mr MJ Thompson, Cantley, Doncaster.
On a recent visit to Leeds to meet up with ex-work colleagues for a day out to catch up, one thing that marred our day was not just the sheer number of street beggars but the reaction of one in particular while we were sat in the outdoor seating at a pub.
After explaining to him that we had no cash on us, this resulted in a tantrum with obscene outburst and one of the chairs thrown at our party.
Police need to make the city more welcoming for visitors.

There is a constant debate about the triple lock for pensioners as the younger generation state that this is unfair to them.
Really? I think that when they reach retirement they will have changed their minds. The real problem is with the welfare state and the lack of funds. It is paying for too many people not to work and in particular with people coming to this country just to receive the benefits on offer.
I think that I have the right to my pension having regularly set my alarm for 4.30am and on many occasions worked seven days a week.

I read in The Yorkshire Post of May 20 more twaddle about trams.
A Leeds United director says a line should be built linking Elland Road and the White Rose Centre.
Hasn't there been plans for 10 years to build a station there? Isn't there a rail line that passes within 200 yards of Leeds United? Why doesn't LUFC build a station there?
Perhaps tram enthusiasts should look at another of the UK's major financial centres, Edinburgh, and study the financial disaster that trams have been in that city? Or HS2?
