Ukrainians are being betrayed by the lifting of oil sanctions - Yorkshire Post Letters

From: MK O'Sullivan, Victoria Street, Allerton Bywater, Castleford.

Mr Dick Lindley in his posting (The Yorkshire Post, May 28) on Keir Starmer betraying Ukraine and Ukrainians by easing sanctions on Russian oil is betraying Ukraine and Ukrainians will chime with many.

My addition to what Mr. Lindley says is that Keir Starmer is doing what Donald Trump is doing to the Ukrainians it is called shafting them. This is one thing that Trump is good at shafting and lying to others, it is depressing to see a UK PM doing the same, why we might ask.

Keir Starmer knows that his time as PM might be running out, and peak holiday time is not far off. If angry and frustrated voters see holidays booked and paid for cancelled who will get the blame Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves? Voters do not do gratitude.

The PM should be severely excoriated across the land, he has shown himself to be no different to the Conservatives of 14 years.

Keir Starmer must be well aware of the Tory vultures or carrion crows lurking seeking to get back into power, God forbid.

Austerity would be back, listen to what Kemi Badenoch – the second class Margaret Thatcher, tells us. Heed what she says, especially on defence and security nail her and hers for the state of the UK armed forces after 14 years of cuts, cuts and more cuts to the defence budget.

I recall one image of Margaret Thatcher in a in a tank maybe in Salisbury or Aldershot, looking like a Boadicea. Can you imagine Badenoch doing the same?

Thinking of the valiant and heroic Ukrainians there are new possible figures of up to 400,000 Russians killed so far. Putin must be rattled; recall a very short time back the scaled down military parade.

The Ukrainians now are a battle hardened army, the UK forces could learn a lot from them, especially their excellent drone use. Donald Trump it seems does not like the idea of Ukraine hitting Russian oil production sites but Ukrainians are entitled to offer a well-known two-fingered gesture to that. Alas he is in power until January 2029.
