Robin Hood's 'true' roots revealed

WHISPER it quietly – Robin Hood's Yorkshire roots are being celebrated in a new book.

In a move that is bound to upset people obsessed with his Nottinghamshire links, a book has been published which focuses solely on the outlaw's northern links.

Author and illustrator Richard Bell, from Wakefield, has produced Walks in Robin Hood's Yorkshire, a 32-page booklet featuring comic strips, picture maps, watercolour paintings and photographs looking at Hood's Yorkshire connections and travels, including a battle at Sandal Castle in Wakefield.

Mr Bell will be signing copies to coincide with the release of Robin Hood, a new film featuring Russell Crowe, at Wakefield Tourist Information Centre on Saturday from 11am until noon.
