Rotherham road death victim named by police

A 52-year-old woman who died following a collision in the Clifton area of Rotherham last weekend has been named as Hasina Idris Mohamed.

Miss Mohamed was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident which involved a silver Ford Focus travelling along Doncaster Road towards the town centre, close to Clifton Park at around 4.40pm on Saturday.

A 51-year-old man who was the driver of the Ford Focus was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Steve Askham, from the Serious Collisions Unit at South Yorkshire Police, said: “Our condolences are with Miss Mohamed’s family at this sad time.

“While our investigation is in its early stages, at this time it does appear that there were no aggravating factors connected to this incident and we believe that this was a road traffic collision with tragic consequences.

“I’d ask that the public are considerate when posting about this incident on social media to prevent any further distress to Miss Mohamed’s family.”

Miss Mohamed’s family are receiving support from officers and have asked that their privacy is respected during this difficult time.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the force on 101 quoting incident number 809 of August 6.
