Thieves grab Harry Potter first edition

A LIMITED first edition of a Harry Potter book, worth almost £6,000, has been stolen from an art gallery in Oxfordshire.

The rare edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, one of only 300-500 copies printed, was taken from a display box in the Creative Art Gallery in Woodstock late last month, police said.

Thames Valley Police are looking for two people in connection with the theft.

The book, which was for sale, was being displayed as part of an exhibition.

A gallery employee was dealing with a group of people at the time of the theft and while distracted, a man not with the group took the book from under an unsecured display box while a woman acted as look out.
