A multi car pile-up on a major Leeds road is causing serious delays.

Officers are currently on scene dealing with the live incident.

A statement from West Yorkshire Police said: "LIVE : Officers dealing with multiple car RTC on Stanningley Bypass (Bfd bound) at Swinnow.

"Avoid this route where possible. #delays"

UPDATE:

Police were called to the A647 Stanningley Bypass following a multi-vehicle crash at around 2.35pm today (Wednesday).

The collision happened close to the New Pudsey railway station on the stretch of road, towards Bradford.

One lane is currently closed at 3.30pm.

Police said the crash involved four or five vehicles, and happened after one broke down on the road.

No injuries or casualties have been reported at the scene, police added.
