TV challenge for local chef
Michelin-starred Yorkshire chef James Mackenzie will showcase his culinary talents to a national audience this weekend.
The co-owner of the Pipe and Glass Inn at South Dalton, near Beverley, will star as a guest on BBC1’s live cookery show Saturday Kitchen, presented by Malton-born chef James Martin. Both men trained at Scarborough Technical College.
“James and I have known each for years, but this is the first time I’ve been invited onto Saturday Kitchen,” Mr Mackenzie said. “It’ll be great to show off some lovely local produce, and have two Yorkshire chefs cooking it. I’m really looking forward to it – apart from the feared Omelette Challenge!”
Broadcast on Saturday from 10am, Mr Mackenzie will make a dish voted for by viewers and will compete with another chef to make the quickest omelette.
