Police in parts of Yorkshire have warned motorists not to travel due to heavy snow. Several hours of snow has fallen across various parts of the county, with Sheffield, Leeds and North Yorkshire all blanketed.

Buses have been delayed or diverted including in Leeds, Halifax, Huddersfield and Bradford.

Northern trains update:

Northern: “Following an obstruction on the track between Headingley and Horsforth some lines will be reopened shortly.”

Northern Train services running through these stations are now returning to normal.

Northern trains suspended from Leeds due to obstruction on track between Horsforth and Headingley

Disruption is expected until 6pm.

This is affecting services between Leeds and Harrogate in both directions of travel.

Road replacement transport operated by J & B travel will depart as follows:  

 15:45 from Harrogate towards Leeds calling at Hornbeam Park, Pannal, Weeton, Horsforth, Headingley, Burley Park, terminating at Leeds.  

 Journey times will be extended by up to 30 minutes.

A man was arrested on the roof of Leeds General Infirmary after he escaped from police custody after being arrested for dangerous driving.

Police are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision in Aberford Road, Garforth.

The incident was reported at 10.19am today and involves one vehicle and a male casualty, who is the driver.

A road closure is in place to allow scene investigation work.

According to AA: “Road closed and heavy traffic due to accident on A642 Aberford Road both ways from Parkinson Approach (Tesco) to Station Road (the Train Station).”
