Dorothy’s dress under hammer
The white puff-sleeve blouse and blue gingham pinafore has inspired countless Halloween costumes since the film was released in 1939.
Although several identical dresses were made for her character Dorothy, the dress to be sold is the only version seen in the film and the only complete original dress to survive.

Hide AdThe outfit will be on view at the Stafford Hotel in London before being exhibited at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills next month before the auction on November 9 and 10.
Other items for sale in the auction have links to screen stars including Marilyn Monroe, Julie Andrews and Steve McQueen.
