Barnsley FC sign former Watford striker to add to forward options

BARNSLEY have announced the signing of former Watford striker Tobi Adeyemo on an initial one-year deal.

The 21-year-old, who had a loan spell at League Two outfit Crawley Town earlier this year, left the Hornets in May when his contract expired. He had been on trial at Oakwell.

The London-born player made his Watford debut as a teenager in January 2023 and spent loan spells at non-league outfits Hitchin Town and Wealdstone during his time at Vicarage Road.

He netted once in 12 appearances at Crawley, while making five first-team appearances in total for Watford.

Barnsley hold a one-year option in their favour regarding Adeyemo.

Reds chief Daniel Stendel said: “We are pleased to welcome Tobi to Oakwell.

"To add more depth into the attacking positions is pleasing as we look to attack the busy schedule.

"We have worked with Toby during a trial period at the club and look forward as a staff to continue working with him.”

Adeyemo’s arrival follows on from the free agent additions of Daniel Johnson and Jubril Okedina.

Barnsley, without a win in seven matches in all competitions, host Cambridge United on Saturday.
