Luton Town boss Jack Wilshere on prospect of Harrison Ashby facing former club Bradford City

Bradford City could come up against a former Bantams loanee when they face Jack Wilshere’s Luton Town

Luton Town boss Jack Wilshere has not ruled out the possibility of Harrison Ashby lining up against his former club Bradford City.

Ashby spent the second half of last season on loan at Bradford, making eight appearances as the Bantams surged into the semi-finals of the League One play-offs.

He returned to his parent club Newcastle United at the end of the season, but was not back at St James’ Park for long.

Luton swooped to tie the 24-year-old wing-back to a season-long loan deal and he has appeared in all but one of their fixtures this term.

Harrison Ashby latest

Ashby missed the Hatters’ win over Stevenage last week but has returned to training ahead of their clash with Bradford at Kenilworth Road tomorrow (September 19).

As reported by The Lutonian, Wilshere said: “Ashby obviously missed the Thursday game.

“We gave him a little bit more time to recover after that because we didn’t have a game for eight days and we tried to get the balance right.

“But he has trained today. We need to make a decision on him.”

Jack Wilshere on Bradford City’s battling spirit

Wilshere is wary of the threat his side could face from Bradford, who have ascended to third in the League One table after four wins and two losses across their first six games.

Luton’s boss - a former England international and key component of the Arsenal midfield - has lauded the way in which Graham Alexander’s Bantams battle.

He said: “We have to make sure we compete because this team is really good at competing, Bradford, they run, they fight, they tackle and we need to do the same.”

Luton sit 12th in the League One table after two wins, two draws and two losses across six games.
