Bradford City player ratings from the much-needed performance to the excellence which comes as standard
Bradford City reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup with a 2-0 win over Peterborough United which ought to have been even more comprehensive.
Whilst the Bantams continued their high levels defensively, their attacking play was more of a mixed bag, creating good chances, but missing more than they would like.
Jon McCracken – re-iterated his class to keep his 12th clean sheet of the season 8
Reece Welch – cynical booking in an otherwise good display 7
Matthew Pennington – rock solid defensively all night 8
Macaulay Gillesphey – needed a good performance with Bradford's back three so strong in the league and delivered one – as well as a goal 8
Corey O'Keeffe – put in a lovely first-half ball that deserved a finish 7
George Lapslie – booked for a foul but did nothing to play himself out of the job of holding the midfield against Huddersfield Town on Saturday 7
Callum Connolly – a lovely corner to create the opener and some excellent stoppage-time defending to preserve the clean sheet 7
Ibou Touray – not a major force offensively but did his job at the back 6
Antoni Sarcevic – a quiet night by his standards back in his most natural position 6
Bobby Pointon – his frustration with the referee boiled over with a booking 6
Jake Beesley – worked hard all night but the goal he needs just would not come 7
Substitutes:
Aden Baldwin (for Welch, 53) – four clearances and an interception helped his side over the line 6
Kayden Jackson (for O'Keeffe, 53) – filled in well again at wing-back 5
Adam Phillips (for Lapslie, 60) – a couple of heavy touches cost him, as did a goalline clearance, but he made up for it with a goal 6
Will Swan (for Pointon, 60) – played a gorgeous ball to Phillips and had a goal disallowed – wrongly, in his manager's view 6
Kieran Morgan (for Sarcevic, 69) – made a chance for Beesley 5
