According to reporter Alan Nixon via his Patreon page, Wigan are eyeing a reunion with the tricky frontman.

They are said to have made approach but time could prove to be a challenge for the League One club.

Stephen Humphrys’ time at Bradford City

Humphrys has made 46 appearances since his move to West Yorkshire, registering nine goals and six assists. He is undeniably a gifted operator but has struggled for consistency at various periods throughout his career.

Last year, after crossing a Yorkshire rivalry divide, he said: “As a 'nine' in this team, I will be able to get on the ball and dribble and create chances a lot more than most of last season when I was a target man really.

“I wanted to make sure he (Graham Alexander) understood I didn’t want to be that and he wanted to make me feel comfortable that was not what I was brought in for. He wants me to link play up and get into the box.

“I want to be a source of more momentum and an important player in the team. I have never shied away from wanting to be the main player in attack and be the first name on the team sheet. I have got a really good feeling about it. It ticks a lot of boxes.”
