The summer transfer window has officially closed - and it was a busy one for clubs in the second tier of English football.
Championship clubs set a new summer spending record, splashing out £289.3m between them. This figure soared above the previous high of £204.2m, which was set last summer.
Clubs did recoup a collective £461.4m from sales, therefore there was a profit of £172.1m across the entire division.
The divison’s two Yorkshire clubs had contrasting windows, as Sheffield United’s was mixed and Middlesbrough’s activity was widely lauded.
Chris Wilder saw the likes of Hamza Choudhury, Kalvin Phillips and Ben Brereton Diaz brought back, but also lost the likes of Gustavo Hamer and Callum O’Hare.
Middlesbrough, meanwhile, made an array of eye-catching signings. Among those to arrive at the Riverside were Radek Vitek, Ashley Phillips, Sebastian Berhalter and Will Lankshear.
Here is a ranking of Championship net spends, ranked from lowest to highest. Data is courtesy of Sky Sports and correct as of 8:20am this morning (September 2).
