Former Rotherham United, Doncaster Rovers and Peterborough United winger makes surprise move away from EFL

Former Rotherham United and Doncaster Rovers winger Jon Taylor has made a surprise move to the sixth tier of English football.

The 32-year-old has spent his entire career in the EFL, representing the Millers and Doncaster as well as Shrewsbury Town, Peterborough United and Salford City.

He penned a one-year deal with the latter last year, but has departed after 32 outings for the Ammies.

“I’m over the moon to be here,” he told the club’s website. “It’s something that I wanted to be done early and I’m pleased it’s finally over the line.

“I’ll make no bones about it, I’ve come to the club to get promoted. I spoke to Bernard and Jonno [Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson, Radcliffe co-managers] and as soon as I chatted with them I knew straight away that this was the club I wanted to sign for, I’m really excited to be working under those two.

“I’d describe myself as a direct and fast player who’ll give everything for the team at all times, and I’ve got a keen eye for goal which I’m hoping to bring to the Neuven Stadium.

“I’ve heard a lot about the club and how special the fans are, I can’t wait to put on the Radcliffe shirt and play.’”

Taylor first arrived in Yorkshire in 2016, joining Rotherham and going on to make 119 appearances for the club.

He completed a switch to Doncaster in 2019, scoring 10 goals across 86 outings before leaving last year.
