FT: Notts County 2 Huddersfield Town 2

Huddersfield Town squandered a two-goal lead as their promotion bid continued to stutter.

Town have now won only once in their last six games, and just twice in nine after conceding two late goals.

Jordan Rhodes, their star striker who cannot stop scoring, turned provider to give Town the lead.

The Scotland international raced to the byline and dinked a cross into the box which was met convincingly by Gary Roberts who steered the Terriers into the lead on 52 minutes.

And within six minutes, normal service was resumed as Rhodes found the back of the net to stretch Town’s lead to 2-0 with a simple tap-in after Roberts’s shot rebounded off the cross bar.

It was Rhodes’s seventh goal in four games.

But any thoughts of a stroll to the points were ended 18 minutes from the end when Jeff Smith pulled a goal back for County from the penalty spot after Tom Clarke had fouled Alan Sheehan.

And County grabbed an unlikely equaliser six minutes from the end when their top scorer Lee Hughes raced through and beat Ian Bennett to level the scores.
