Ipswich Town make decision on Cameron Humphreys after Huddersfield Town loan spell
Ipswich Town have activated an extension option in the contract of Cameron Humphreys following his loan spell at Huddersfield Town.
The midfielder was sent to the Accu Stadium in January having been afforded just three Championship outings in the first half of the 2025/26 season.
It was a move that reunited Humphreys with Lee Grant, who had worked with Humphreys during his spell as a first-team coach at Portman Road. The reunion was brief as Grant was axed from his role as Huddersfield manager nine days later.
Humphreys went on to make 21 league appearances for the Terriers, registering two goals and two assists. His exploits were not enough to push Huddersfield into the play-offs and the club settled for a ninth-placed finish.

Ipswich Town confirm Cameron Humphreys decision
The 22-year-old was due to see his Ipswich deal expire but the Tractor Boys have opted to extend his contract by 12 months.
In their retained list statement, the club said: “The club remains in contract talks with winger Wes Burns and goalkeeper David Button, while contract options have been exercised on Harry Clarke and Cameron Humphreys, keeping them at Portman Road for a further 12 months.”
The extension of Humphreys’ contract does not necessarily mean he will be remaining at Portman Road. Ipswich were promoted to the Premier League in his absence and there will therefore be even sterner competition for places next term.
However, the Tractor Boys will now be able to command a fee if they decide to sell the midfielder. Alternatively, they could sanction another loan move to further examine his potential for a first-team breakthrough.

Cameron Humphreys’ Huddersfield Town loan move
After penning a loan deal in West Yorkshire in January, Humphreys said Huddersfield reminded him of his parent club “in many ways”.
He said: “This is a difficult league with lots of challenges within it, but I know what it takes to succeed and would love nothing more than to have that experience again.
“We have a really strong squad and the infrastructure and facilities here are top class, so it reminds me a lot of Ipswich Town in many ways, with both teams sharing similar ambitions.”
