Hull City losing to Sheffield United was 'unbelievable' says Sergej Jakirovic

Sergej Jakirovic thought it was "unbelievable" Hull City lost to Sheffield United, and that John Lundstram was sent off for two yellow cards.

The former Blades midfielder was cautioned for a tussle with Mark McGuinness, then shown another caution for a foul on Andre Brooks.

He will now be suspended for Hull's game at home to Birmingham City on Saturday.

The equaliser came from a penalty where they seemed to be numerous fouls by players of both sides.

"We were the better team, we took the lead through Oli McBurnie," said Jakirovic. "We felt comfortable there because we didn't feel any threats. And then, second half, I can split into two parts.

"(John) Lundstrum, second yellow, because the reason why he get the yellow is the referee is in the way.

“He knows that. It's foul, completely a foul, but you don't need to give a yellow card because you are the reason why he was late on the ball.

"And the penalty, I don't know what happened there.

“Because from my position, I saw six players on the ground. You can see it in every game in the Championship. You could see 10 penalties a game like this. It's not easy to manage your emotions. Because you know that you were the better team and control everything. Now we go home without anything.”

It appeared Lundstram left his leg in on McGuinness before the centre-back angrily pushed it away, prompting a melee.

“Because this guy attacked him," said Jakirovic." So when somebody attacks you, you will stay down and kick me one more time? Like this song, Britney Spears. You have your reaction. You are human being. You have your limits.

“You can pretend you are calm. But come on, guys. Who here didn't fight in his life? No matter if you are playing in the schoolyards or here. This is normal, natural reaction. But you need to manage this situation. Or you can speak with both of them and say: ‘OK, guys, it's football.’"

There were five bookings in the 11 minutes following the penalties as the game got feisty.

“It was a normal football atmosphere," reasoned the Hull coach. "One bald guy tried to provoke me with his daughter. Which is very interesting. They were shouting something, but I don't understand.

“But then I can speak in my language. So you don't understand anything It's normal and it's also human reactions. I understand the Sheffield United fans. This is normal And they need to understand my reaction. This is normal as well.”

The defeat drops Hull to sixth, four points clear of Wrexham. Phil Parkinson's side have five games to play, the Tigers four.
