The latest on Hull City’s Liam Millar amid Middlesbrough, Birmingham City and Stoke City links

Birmingham City have reportedly stolen a march on Middlesbrough and Stoke City in the race to sign Hull City winger Liam Millar.

The 26-year-old was the match-winner for the Tigers at the weekend, scoring the decisive goal as they claimed a 1-0 win away at Coventry City.

His winner did not stem the flow of transfer speculation and he has been linked with a clutch of Championship clubs in recent days.

Liam Millar latest

According to Sky Sports, it is Birmingham leading the race to strike a deadline day deal for the Canada international.

They are said to be in advanced talks with Hull having stormed ahead of fellow interested clubs Middlesbrough and Stoke.

Hull are having take a pragmatic approach to potential exits in the window’s dying embers, the report has claimed, as they will soon have to settle on a 25-man Premier League squad. BBC Radio Humberside’s Mike White has indicated it is a loan deal that has been teed up.

Middlesbrough may be missing out on Millar but are thought to be closing in on the loan capture of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Amario Cozier-Duberry. Hull, meanwhile, could be replacing Millar with Stoke’s Sorba Thomas.

Liam Millar’s potential sign-off

If Millar does depart before the deadline, he will have signed off in style. When asked about the winger’s winner at Coventry, his Hull teammate Oli McBurnie said: “I think Millar was a bit disappointed with the first one and then showed massive balls to score the second one.

“I'll be honest, as a striker, it's not the one you want when you've just missed the chance where you've run in with it for 40 yards and you've got to think about it. You've got too much time to think. You almost want an instinctive one that you can just pass in. He showed really big balls to go and finish it and were really delighted for him.”
