Jamie Vardy state of play after Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham United 'offers' and Wrexham link

The latest on Jamie Vardy amid links to Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham United, Wrexham and more

Sheffield Wednesday target Jamie Vardy will reportedly make a decision regarding his future after the closure of the transfer window.

The 39-year-old has attracted interest from his boyhood club Wednesday, who released the marksman from their academy as a teenager.

He went on to become an iconic figure in English football, rising through the pyramid to become a Premier League star for Leicester City and an England international.

The seasoned forward is now on the free agent market following the expiry of his contract at Italian outfit Cremonese.

Jamie Vardy latest

Wednesday, West Ham United and Sao Paulo have all been credited with interest but a decision does not look set to be made on deadline day.

Posting on X, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett said: “Jamie Vardy will wait until after the transfer window closes before making a decision about his future. Offers from WHUFC, SWFC the MLS and Sau Paulo remain as ‘possible’.

Ambitious Championship outfit Wrexham have also been thrown in the mix by talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, who has echoed the claim regarding Vardy’s stance.

He posted on X: “Wrexham are interested in Jamie Vardy. Still keen not planning on making a decision on his future until after the transfer window shuts.”

David Storch on Jamie Vardy

Wednesday’s interest in Vardy was confirmed last month, when the club’s owner David Storch was quizzed about the frontman on the radio.

He told talKSPORT: “At some point, I’ll be able to tell a story. This might not be the right time. But yeah, Jamie is somebody we would like to have in our club.

“Let’s just say he’d be someone we’d be thrilled to have on the club, and unfortunately we do have these restrictions. We’re trying to figure out how to get around the restrictions to put something in front of Jamie that would make sense for him.”
