'As I considered my options' - Jack Harrison explains decision to join New England Revolution from Leeds United

Jack Harrison has explained his decision to join New England Revolution from Leeds United

Jack Harrison has claimed New England Revolution “ticked a lot of boxes” for him following his permanent move away from Leeds United.

The 29-year-old has seen his eight-year association with Leeds come to an end, departing after making 219 appearances for the Whites across all competitions.

He has returned to Major League Soccer, the divison in which he made his senior breakthrough with New York City a decade ago. Harrison has penned a four-year deal at New England Revolution, taking a designated player spot in the club’s squad.

Jack Harrison explains New England Revolution decision

“As I considered my options, the decision to return to MLS and join the Revolution was the one that was most aligned with me,” he told the club’s website. “It ticked a lot of boxes that I was looking for.

“I’m absolutely happy to come back to MLS and be back in Massachusetts, to a city that is full of champions in all other sports, and I’m hoping we can bring a title here to the city of champions.”

Jack Harrison’s time at Leeds United

Harrison first joined Leeds on loan in 2018, sealing a temporary switch to Elland Road from Manchester City.

He went on to spend three seasons on loan in West Yorkshire, eventually becoming a permanent member of the squad in 2021.

Harrison was part of the Leeds squad that suffered relegation from the Premier League in 2023 and departed on loan for Everton after the heartbreak. He spent back-to-back campaigns on Merseyside, somewhat souring his relationship with Leeds fans.

Harrison was reintegrated by Whites boss Daniel Farke last summer but after struggling to make an impact, was loaned to Serie A outfit Fiorentina in January.

‘Fills an important need’

“Jack Harrison fills an important need for the Revolution as we aim to bolster our attack,” said his new club’s general manager and chief soccer officer Chris Tierney. “Since breaking through in MLS, Jack has flourished on the game’s biggest stages in the English Premier League and Serie A, where he was an integral part of his Leeds, Everton, and Fiorentina squads.

“With Jack joining the Revolution, we are confident his creativity and game intelligence will help him make an immediate impact.”
