Joel Piroe state of play as fresh Rangers claim made over Middlesbrough FC-linked Leeds United forward
The latest on Leeds United’s Middlesbrough-linked forward Joel Piroe as a fresh Rangers claim emerges
Rangers have reportedly cooled interest in Leeds United forward Joel Piroe.
The 26-year-old was Leeds’ chief marksman over the course of the 2024/25 campaign, firing the Whites to the Championship title with a 19-goal haul.
However, opportunities have proven limited in the Premier League and he looks likely to depart Elland Road after three years at the club.

Joel Piroe state of play
Scottish giants Rangers, who like Leeds are owned by 49ers Enterprises, have been strongly linked with the Suriname international.
Gers boss Danny Rohl is thought to be an admirer of Piroe, although TEAMtalk have claimed interest is on ice following the captures of Lawrence Shankland and Ryan Naderi.
Not only have Rangers recruited, they are seemingly intent on retaining the services of Youssef Chermiti.
Given Piroe saw such little action last season, he could be forgiven for not wanting to walk into a packed forward department.
Championship outfit Middlesbrough have also been linked and the cooling of Rangers interest could present an opportunity for the Teessiders. They are believed to have held a long-standing interest in Piroe, who could reportedly cost between £8-10m.

Middlesbrough potentially set for financial boost
Middlesbrough could soon have their coffers boosted by the sale of star midfielder Hayden Hackney, who has attracted interest from a raft of Premier League clubs.
Everton and Crystal Palace are among those to have been credited with interest in the 23-year-old, who Middlesbrough appear keen to pocket a hefty fee for.
The departure of Hackney could grease the wheels for some exciting recruitment and Piroe would arguably be a coup for the North Yorkshire club.
Piroe has made a total of 179 appearances in regular Championship games, delivering an impressive haul of 73 goals and 18 assists.
