England squad: Dominic Calvert-Lewin recalled to much-changed group

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has won a recall to a much-changed first England squad since the World Cup, but there is no place for his Leeds United team-mates Jayden Bogle and James Justin.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cole Palmer, Rio Ngumoha, Alex Scott, Jarrad Branthwaite and Lewis Hall also come into the squad having not gone to the World Cup, where England were beaten by Argentina in the semi-finals.

Djed Spence and the injured John Stones miss out, as does Harry Maguire.

Dean Henderson, Dan Burn, Reece James, Jordan Henderson, Oli Watkins, Noni Madueke and Ivan Toney are all left out having played at the World Cup.

Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo is retained despite not having played a minute at the tournament.

Tino Livramento is named having been in the original World Cup squad but being forced to withdraw through injury.

England play Nations League games against Spain (home, September 26), Czechia (away on September 29 and home on October 6) and Croatia (away, October 3).

Leeds full-backs Justin and Bogle had been tipped for selection, but have both missed out.

Four goals in as many games have pushed Sheffield-born Calvert-Lewin back into the picture. He was selected for March's pre-World Cup friendly against Uruguay, but did not make the cut for the tournament.

Goalkeeper James Trafford retains his place after an excellent start to his Elland Road career after his £45m British transfer record move.

Phil Foden misses out again.
