With a week or so to go, it’s been a fairly quiet transfer window for Leeds United so far.

Rumours have come and gone, but nothing concrete has stuck as yet, and by far the most exciting development that we have seen pertains to this morning's announcement that the San Francisco 49ers have increased their minority stake in the club to 37%.

There is still time for business to be done, however, and one man whose future is very much up in the air is 22-year-old forward Rafa Mujica.

The Spaniard has spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Real Oviedo, but has been limited to just 50 minutes of action in La Liga 2 thus far.

Leeds United forward Rafa Mujica is still waiting to find out where he will be playing his football come the end of the transfer window. The 22-year-old is expected to cut his loan spell with Real Oviedo short this month, but as yet, has not received an update from his parent club as to where he will be moving to, if anywhere. Understandably, that situation suits neither the player or his parent club, and there has been heightened speculation about the striker making a return to boyhood club Las Palmas.

Presently, however, Mujica is yet to hear anything definite about where his future lies, and according to La Voz de Asturias, he is stuck in a state of limbo.

The ex-Barcelona is said to be “waiting” on a new club, and in the meantime is having to train as normal with Oviedo.

From a Leeds perspective, it would surely be far preferable for Victor Orta and his team to engineer another loan move for Mujica in the coming days.

The 22-year-old is being starved of opportunities with Real Oviedo, and he has the right to feel aggrieved by his current predicament.

In fact, in his only start this season, a 3-2 win over CD Coria in the Copa del Rey, he scored twice in 83 minutes, giving him a total goals per 90 minutes ratio of 1.17 this term, as per Wyscout.

As a point of reference, even after his sublime to the campaign, Patrick Bamford's is 0.55.

Mujica surely deserves another chance to prove himself elsewhere.

In other transfer news, the Whites are being linked with a move for Nottingham Forest starlet Brennan Johnson, as per The Athletic.

The 19-year-old has been tearing up League One for Lincoln City this season, and it’s understood that he has caught the eye of senior figures at Elland Road.

Leeds are far from the only side tracking his progress, however.

Burnley, Brentford, and Belgian outfit Royal Union Saint-Gilloise are also said to be monitoring the teenager.

Forest are said to be unwilling to sell to a fellow Championship side, however, and any deal is more likely to happen in the summer, with Johnson’s parent club keen to allow him to finish his campaign with the Imps.

Truthfully, that’s probably a wise move.

Johnson has struck five goals and two assists from a more advanced midfield role this season, and according to Whoscored.com, only Jorge Grant and Lewis Montsma have recorded a higher average match rating for Lincoln this term.

Still, this could be a rumour to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
