Leeds United player ratings as debutant shines brightest against Nottingham Forest
Leeds United beat Nottingham Forest for the second time in half a week to continue their positive start to the season.
The Whites kept a clean sheet as they did on Saturday in the Premier League, but this time scored twice to knock Oliver Glasner’s side out of the League Cup.
James Trafford – did not have masses to do, but made a big save shortly after Leeds went in front, showing why they paid the money they did 7
Joe Rodon – his first-half tackle was one of the best moments of the night 7
Nico Elvedi – very assured in the air and on the ground in his first appearance in English football 8
Tarik Muharemovic – nutmegged by Chris Wood and beaten out wide in the build-up to Trafford's save, but it was by and large a good performance from the centre-back 6
Daniel James – got into good positions without always picking his man out, though that was not always his fault. His goal was lovely 7
Ethan Ampadu – his usual driving force in midfield and one wonderful ball around the corner to release James 7

Ao Tanaka – neat and tidy on the ball throughout 7
James Justin – made an important header off the line early on 7
Sean Longstaff – really struggled to reproduce his pre-season form but the pass he played for the opening goal was exquisite 7
Noah Okafor – was dangerous in the first half in particular when he got wide 6

Lukas Nmecha – found wanting when given the chance to show what he could do in Dominic Calvert-Lewin's place 5
Substitutes:
Anton Stach (for Tanaka, 67) – nearly scored – again – quickly after coming on 6
Brenden Aaronson (for Longstaff, 67) – made an impact from the bench 7
Harry Wilson (for Okafor, 67) – played a lovely pass to put Calvert-Lewin through 6
Jayden Bogle (for James, 71) – a good run-out for him 5
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (for Nmecha, 83) – N/A
Not used: Bijol, Perri, Cresswell, Lienou.
