'Feel loved' - Jeremy Sarmiento delighted to be settling at Middlesbrough FC after Brighton & Hove Albion exit

Jeremy Sarmiento has opened up on his move from Brighton & Hove Albion to Middlesbrough

Jeremy Sarmiento is delighted to be settling down at Middlesbrough after years in the loan system.

Brighton & Hove Albion sanctioned five temporary moves for the winger, who spent time with West Bromwich Albion, Ipswich Town, Burnley, Cremonese and then Middlesbrough.

A permanent move to the Riverside was triggered at the end of the season and the 24-year-old is relishing the prospect of having a home.

Jeremy Sarmiento delighted to be laying down roots

He told BBC Radio Tees: “I'm very happy. I'm delighted, my family also, to feel at home somewhere. I've been on quite a few loan spells, so it feels good to finally settle in somewhere where you feel loved.

“It's great and the fans have been loving to me as well, which I appreciate a lot.”

Middlesbrough’s promotion ambition

Sarmiento made 20 appearances for Middlesbrough last term, helping Kim Hellberg’s side reach the Championship play-off final.

After experiencing Wembley heartbreak, Middlesbrough are determined to ensure they reach the promised land next year.

Sarmiento said: “We all wanted it, I think the fans wanted it as well. We worked so hard to push for that promotion," he said.

“Only God knows why we didn't. But we have that belief, we're working so hard to get there again and this time hopefully do it.”

In Sarmiento, Middlesbrough have a player who knows what it takes to escape the second tier. The Ecuador international sealed promotion with Ipswich in 2024 and emulated the feat with Burnley a year later.

He said: “Really it could have been third [last season], but hey, it is what it is. At the end of the day, it's the mentality,.

“I can help some players out, the young guys who are also coming in. But I'm sure there's a lot of players with a lot of confidence that can contribute.”
