Middlesbrough FC 'join' Southampton and Leicester City in race for Crystal Palace's Justin Devenny
Middlesbrough are said to have joined Southampton and Leicester City in the race for a Crystal Palace midfielder
Middlesbrough have reportedly joined the race to sign Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace.
The 22-year-old has been on the books at Selhurst Park since 2023, when he was prised from Scottish outfit Airdrieonians.
He has since made 60 senior appearances for the Eagles, scoring four goals and establishing himself at international level with Northern Ireland. Devenny was part of the club’s UEFA Conference League triumph last term, and has also lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield during his time in the capital.

Middlesbrough linked with Crystal Palace midfielder
According to reporter Alan Nixon via his Patreon page, Middlesbrough are eyeing a move for the versatile midfielder.
Southampton and Leicester City are said to be keen on Devenny and Preston North End have also been credited with interest.
However, it has been suggested Middlesbrough could offer as much as £7m in order to win the race for the Palace man.
Devenny is not thought to be on a particularly lucrative salary at Selhurst Park, therefore an attractive package tabled by a Championship club could prove tempting.
He would arguably be quite the coup for Middlesbrough, who have already added USA international Sebastian Berhalter to their midfield.
Middlesbrough’s transfer business
The summer signings tally at the Riverside stands at five, with Berhalter, Myles Peart-Harris, Jeremy Sarmiento, Kyle Joseph and Will Lankshear through the door.
More arrivals are expected ahead of the 2026/27 Championship season, in which Kim Hellberg’s side will be gunning for promotion to the Premier League.

On the outgoings front, Middlesbrough have lost midfielder Hayden Hackney to Everton and allowed fringe defender Archie Baptiste to link up with fifth-tier Harrogate Town.
Middlesbrough’s Championship campaign is due to kick off on August 15, when newly-promoted outfit Lincoln City will visit North Yorkshire.
