Spygate: Fresh development for Hull City, Middlesbrough and Southampton following EFL announcement
THE English Football League have confirmed that the Championship play-off final will definitely take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon – but with two different kick-off times depending on who Hull City face.
Southampton were thrown out of the competition on Tuesday evening after admitting they spied on three clubs during the Championship season, with Middlesbrough – their opponents in the semi-final – placed into the final despite a 2-1 aggregate loss.
An independent disciplinary commission also handed Saints a four-point deduction in the Championship for next season.
The south-coast club are appealing against the decision, with that hearing set to be heard on Wednesday.

If the decision of the commission is upheld, then Hull will face Boro on Saturday with a 3.30pm kick-off. Should Saints be reinstated, the game will kick off an hour later.
An EFL statement read: “Saturday's Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final between Hull City and Middlesbrough will kick-off at 15:30.
"Should the outcome of the ongoing appeal process result in the Final being contested by Hull City and Southampton, the kick-off time for the fixture will remain at 16:30.”
