Over £8,000 raised for Leeds United fan with 'life-threatening injuries' sustained during parade

Over £8,000 has been raised for a Leeds United supporter who suffered “life-threatening injuries” during the club’s trophy parade.

Supporters lined the streets of Leeds to celebrate the club’s promotion to the Premier League on Monday (May 5), as open-top buses made their way through the city.

Edward O’Brien, 23, fell from a tree in Millennium Square during the celebrations and was seriously injured.

His mother Stacey Barker, via Facebook, has said the injuries are life-threatening and that he needs “all the prayers and luck in the world right now”.

She said: “I’m hoping he shows the same resilience, the same strength, the same character we’ve all come to know and love him for in the coming days, weeks and months ahead.”

Fans have rallied to support the family and donations to them have been made via a JustGiving page.

The JustGiving page reads: “To Support Ed O’Brien and his family after Ed sadly fell out of a tree when celebrating Leeds winning the league on Monday and now is sadly fighting for his life in hospital.

“His mum and dad both live in York and at this time it will be costing them both a lot in travel and time off work, so I am just hoping we can all raise some money to take that stress away from them.”
