Pablo Hernandez: Castellon provide update on Leeds United icon after hospitalisation

Leeds United icon Pablo Hernandez is under medical supervision after being hospitalised with a kidney stone problem.

The 40-year-old, a revered figure in LS11, is now the head coach of Segunda Division outfit CD Castellón in his native Spain.

However, he was unable to lead his side into their last game, against CD Mirandés. He could again be absent from the dugout on Sunday (December 21), when Castelló visit Cádiz.

Pablo Hernandez update

A club statement read: “CD Castellón reports that the manager underwent surgery for a kidney stone on Sunday, December 14, prior to the match against CD Mirandés.

“Despite the surgery and his efforts to be able to lead the team in that game, his condition worsened slightly on Tuesday, the 16th, leading to his hospitalisation as a precaution and for closer medical monitoring.

“At this time, Pablo Hernández is progressing favourably and remains under medical supervision, following the instructions of healthcare professionals.

“For this reason, the press conference prior to the match against Cádiz will again be given by the assistant coach, Sergi Ripollés, just as it happened last week.

“Pablo Hernández's presence in the trip to Cádiz will depend on the evolution of his health in the coming hours. CD Castellón would like to thank everyone for their support and affection, and we will continue to keep you informed of any relevant developments.”
