'Done a lot for me' - Dan Gore's Rotherham United admission after move from Manchester United to Luton Town

Luton Town’s on-loan Manchester United midfielder has discussed his time at Rotherham United

Dan Gore has spoken affectionately of his time at Rotherham United after sealing a loan move from Manchester United to Luton Town.

The 21-year-old initially joined the Millers for the second half of the 2024/25 season, but saw his action limited by injury.

He returned in the summer of 2025 and established himself as a regular fixture in the middle of the park at the New York Stadium.

Dan Gore on Rotherham United experience

Gore could not save Rotherham from relegation to League Two, but has said the South Yorkshire club did a lot for him.

After penning a loan deal containing a conditional option to buy at Luton, Gore said: “I had a good time at Rotherham, despite the relegation. I learnt a lot and the club's done a lot for me, so it was it was a good experience. I’m just looking to build on it now at Luton.

“I can't wait for the first home game. I love the stadium. It seems like a home, so I can't wait for it.”

Luton Town loan move

Regarding his move to Kenilworth Road, the former England youth international said: “I'm buzzing to get it done. I know Luton is a big club, and I like the style that Jack [Wilshere] is trying to play.

“I think you had something like 70 per cent possession in that game at Kenilworth Road last season, so it was always interesting to me.

“I think it can definitely improve me, having a lot of the ball. At United we're used to keeping the ball and being technical.

“It helps that Jack's the gaffer because he's been there and done it, and he knows what it's like to be at the top level. Coming from a Premier League club, you're going to develop a lot under him because he's been there himself.”

Learning under Jack Wilshere

In Wilshere, Gore will be learning under a manager who was once among the brightest young midfielders in Europe.

The Hatters boss and ex-Arsenal star said: “Dan was someone who, when we played Rotherham in the home game quite early on in our time here and drew 0-0, we spoke about as coaches, saying that we really liked him.

“He's got something a little bit different. He's aggressive in duels. He can carry the ball. He's got personality on the pitch. He loves a tackle, and he’s someone that we kept our eye on in the second game up there.

“I thought we were actually really good that night and we dominated most of the game, but he never gave up. I kept seeing him trying to drive his team on.

“He’s got a really good education at a top club in Manchester United, so he’s definitely someone who comes in to improve us in that midfield area.”
