Rotherham United next manager: Ex-Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea, Blackpool and Barnsley men among frontrunners

Figures familiar with fans of Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea and Barnsley are among the frontrunners to become Rotherham United’s next permanent manager.

All three of Yorkshire’s League One clubs have wielded the axe this calendar year, with the Millers having parted company with Steve Evans. He has been replaced at the helm by Matt Hamshaw, who is in charge as interim boss until the end of the season.

The 43-year-old has already started to bring the feel-good factor back to the New York Stadium after a huge swell in discontent during the final weeks of Evans’ reign.

There is little for Rotherham to play for but pride this season, meaning there is already plenty of focus on next term. Many fans will be wondering who will be chosen as Evans’ permanent successor and many may even think it will be Hamshaw.

Here is a fresh look at the frontrunners to become Rotherham’s next permanent head coach. Odds are courtesy of Gambling.com, who are currently giving away FA Cup Final tickets in a free-to-enter competition.
