Sheffield United 'join race' for ex-Huddersfield Town star also linked with Leeds United

Reports have suggested the 28-year-old is expected to leave Bournemouth in the final days of the summer window, with competition for places stern in Andoni Iraola’s squad.

A move would mark the end of five interrupted years with the Cherries, who plucked Billing from Huddersfield for a reported £15m fee.

According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page, Sheffield United are emerging as the most serious contenders for Billing’s signature.

Fellow Yorkshire side Leeds United have also been credited with interest, while Burnley have also been linked.

Sheffield United have been busy this summer but do not appear to be finished on the recruitment front. The club’s prospective owners are thought to have strong links with Bournemouth, which potentially help facilitate a deal.

The Blades are also believed to have agreed a deal to sign winger Mikey Johnston from Celtic. The Republic of Ireland international finished last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, impressing for the Baggies.

Chris Wilder’s Blades are yet to lose in the Championship this season but have won just one of their opening three games.
