Sheffield United, Wrexham and Stoke City 'interested' in Leicester City's Harry Souttar as West Ham linked

Sheffield United, West Ham United, Wrexham and Stoke City have been linked with a Leicester City defender

Sheffield United are reportedly interested in re-signing Harry Souttar from Leicester City - but seemingly face stiff competition.

The towering centre-back is no stranger to the Bramall Lane faithful having joined the Blades on loan in the summer of 2024.

He quickly established himself as a key figure for the club, only for injury to cruelly curtail his spell in South Yorkshire.

It was not until April this year that Souttar returned from his lengthy lay-off, appearing in Leicester’s final two games of the Championship season.

Harry Souttar transfer interest

According to the Daily Record, Leicester are keen to offload the 27-year-old following their relegation to League One.

Sheffield United are said to be interested in a reunion, while Wrexham and Stoke City are also thought to be among his admirers.

The report has indicated West Ham United, who were relegated to the second tier last term, are leading the race for Souttar’s signature. Interestingly, Leicester are reportedly eyeing his older brother John as a replacement.

West Ham will be among the most heavily-fancied promotion contenders next season and have the benefit of parachute payments. Sheffield United, meanwhile, will have to do without them after two years back in the Championship.

Harry Souttar’s pedigree

Souttar has seen very little action since the end of his Sheffield United loan spell but reports of strong interest in the Australia international hardly come as a surprise.

He was a rock at the back during his time with the Blades and also impressed in the Championship during his time at Stoke.

The Star have claimed Leicester value Souttar around the £10m mark, which could be a significant stumbling block for some of his suitors.

When Sheffield United signed Souttar on loan back in 2024, Blades boss Chris Wilder said: “His height and power are exactly what we've been looking for since we lost a couple of experienced heads, but with the loan market we have had to bide our time a little in order to get him here.

“Harry's still only 25 but he's been around a long time. He can handle the highest of levels as shown with his appearances for Australia, and again he's someone who knows this division and what is needed to be successful in it.”
