Sheffield United team news with one striker fit, one missing

Sheffield United have suffered a blow before the visit of Wrexham with the news that Ryan One is out with a hamstring injury, but Patrick Bamford and Mark McGuinness will be fit to return.

This should be a big season for forward to build on a successful loan spell at League One champions Lincoln City. But his body has not allowed him to get a run of games yet in 2026-27.

"We've had some disappointing news regarding Ryan," confirmed Chris Wilder.

"It was the same spot that he got the initial injury, so a recurrence of that.

"He's going to be out for a number of weeks, so disappointing for Ryan and disappointing for us.

"He's been a really robust player and not had any injuries, it's his first real injury.

"I think all our supporters understand the importance of him as much as myself and the coaching staff and his impact that he has on the team.

"It was great for us on the Bristol City game when he came on and the Lincoln game. That's a disappointing one because we were ready for Ryan to make an impact, whether off the bench or starting.

"But it's part and parcel. He'll have to get over it and come back stronger."

Bamford injured his shoulder before his goal against Derby County and came off shortly afterwards, but should be fit to face Phil Parkinson's side.

"He took a big bang, I said after the game for a centre-forward just after he scored to come off in that period of the game, shows it was a big bang," said Wilder.

"We've assessed him this week and we're hopeful that he'll be available for Friday."

McGuinness has been passed fit to return after missing the Derby gam with a had injury.

"He's okay, that was protocol for (after) Bristol City, so Mark was, just the modern way," said Wilder.

"Mark was okay, he would have been okay to play Sunday morning really, but with the importance of the protocol and the longer term, Mark's trained but he's obviously not had any balls in the early part of that week.

"He's trained well and he'll be involved on Friday.

"He's cleared all the tests."

The match is the Championship's Friday kick-off, and live on Sky Sports.
