Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United transfer talks, Leeds United man close to exit - transfer latest
Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and Sheffield United are among the clubs featured in the latest transfer news round-up.
With the summer window now officially open, deals are being struck across the board. The rumour mill is also turning at pace, as fans eagerly anticipate business from their clubs.
Here are the latest transfer headlines on Wednesday, June 19.
Sheffield Wednesday in talks with winger

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly in formal discussions with out-of-contract Leeds United winger Ian Poveda. The Colombia international spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan in S6 and was electric.
Reports have indicated he has a number of admirers, although the Hillsborough faithful will be hoping he chooses a return to South Yorkshire. Among his reported admirers are West Bromwich Albion and Luton Town.
Leeds United man nears exit
Leeds United winger Jack Harrison is reportedly close to returning to Everton on loan. The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Goodison Park, becoming a key figure under Sean Dyche.
Everton will reportedly not have to pay a loan fee to secure Harrison’s services, although will have to cover his wages in full.
Sheffield United open talks over defender
Reports have claimed Sheffield United have entered talks with Nottingham Forest regarding defender Joe Worrall. The former England youth international does not appear to have a future at the City Ground and was loaned out to Besiktas earlier this year.
The Blades were linked with Worrall in January, as were their Yorkshire rivals Leeds. However, neither prised him away from Forest and he instead went to Turkey in search of regular game time.
Former Huddersfield Town and Doncaster Rovers stopper on the move
Jed Steer, who counts Huddersfield Town and Doncaster Rovers among his former clubs, has joined League One outfit Peterborough United. He recently had a short stint with Posh but his contract expired at the end of the season.
The goalkeeper has now returned to the club and penned a two-year deal. After putting pen to paper, he said: "It’s been an incredibly enjoyable six months for me here and I must thank the club and the manager for bringing me in. I am incredibly pleased I am able to return next season and finish the job we started in the last campaign.
“We wanted to go up to the Championship and hopefully next year we will achieve that goal together. We have a great group of young, hungry players. Going to Wembley this year, to win the trophy and the experience that brings to the group was really beneficial, a great experience.”
Notts County land former Bradford City goalkeeper
Notts County have landed former Bradford City goalkeeper Alex Bass. The Magpies have paid Sunderland an undisclosed fee to secure the services of the stopper, who made 21 appearances for the Bantams during a loan spell.
Notts County’s recruitment lead Richard Montague said: “We believe Alex was the best-performing goalkeeper in League Two last season – and rank him very highly among his peers in League One – so we’re absolutely delighted to welcome him to Meadow Lane."
