One Sheffield Wednesday game postponed due to internationals, another still to be confirmed
Sheffield Wednesday's League One trip to Stevenage has been postponed due to international call-ups, but there is still to be confirmation on whether the match against Cambridge United will be off too.
It is Stevenage who have called off the September 26 match, after receiving three international call-ups for the upcoming September/October window, the longest of its type after two early-season windows were combined into a three-week period.
A new date for the game has not yet been decided.
Clubs have the option of calling off matches when they have three players called up for games during an official window, provided they have played a certain amount of club football.
The Owls are still waiting to discover if they have hit that mark, having seen the provisional squads for their affected players, but it is understood there is a good chance they will, with confirmation expected later this week.
If so, the October 3 visit of Cambridge United will almost certainly be postponed too.
Football League Trophy games cannot be called off, which is why the Owls have organised group games against Salford City (away, September 22) and Sunderland (home, October 6) during the window. The matches will be a good opportunity for those players not on international duty to keep ticking over.
