Sheffield Wednesday's Wembley 'Sliding Doors' moment that helped shape legacy of Carlos Carvalhal and Dejphon Chansiri

THIS WEEK marks 10 years since Sheffield Wednesday were 90 minutes away from ending what was back then a 16-year absence from the Premier League.

But it was Hull City who got over the line and on to the riches promised by the English game's top-flight.

Last weekend, the Tigers booked their own return to the Premier League by beating Middlesbrough, but the Owls' fate had long been sealed with relegation to League One confirmed many weeks before.

In line with the anniversary of the Owls' trip to Wembley back in 2016, football writer Dom Howson has released a book - 'Carlos Had A Dream - When Sheffield Wednesday Dared to Dream Again'.

In a special edition of our FootballTalk podcast, The YP's chief football writer Stuart Rayner caught up with Dom to chat about the book, starting with the 'leftfield' appointment of manager Carlos Carvalhal before going on to discuss the 'sliding doors' moment of that heartbreaking Championship play-off showdown with the Tigers and the impact of former owner Dejphon Chansiri on the club - both then and long-term.
