Supercomputer predicts Championship table with Sheffield Wednesday & Middlesbrough shocks and Leeds United & Sheffield United twists

The beginning of the 2024/25 Championship season is just days away, with Yorkshire clubs such as Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday set for returns to action.

Leeds will kick off their campaign on home turf, welcoming newly-promoted Portsmouth to Elland Road. Daniel Farke’s side have been tipped by many to clinch promotion this term, having failed to do so in their first season back in the second tier.

Wednesday, meanwhile, are a different beast under the highly-rated Danny Rohl. Their squad has undergone a revamp this summer and the Owls have been earmarked as potential dark horses by various pundits and fans.

Sheffield United will be renewing the Steel City rivalry this season after suffering relegation from the top flight. Similarly to their cross-city rivals, the Blades have reshaped their squad to ensure they start the new season on a stronger footing than they did the last.

Middlesbrough seemed to run out of steam last term but have a talented squad and one of the most promising young managers in England in Michael Carrick. Hull City will also be hoping to be among the promotion contenders after missing out on the play-offs earlier this year.

With the beginning of the new season approaching, the Opta supercomputer has been deployed to predict how the final Championship table will look.
