Scott Lindsey plans to go back to the numbers to try to work out how York City can score more goals, but he thinks patience may be all that is needed at home to Swindon Town.

Nine goals and eight points from their first five matches back in the Football League is more than respectable but the Minstermen have comfortably outshot both Cheltenham Town and Crewe Alexandra, but only taken a point from the two away games.

“We have to watch it back, we have to understand it, we have to understand data in order for us to keep improving," said coach Lindsey of last weekend's 1-1 draw with at Gresty Road.

“Sometimes as a team or as individuals you have to keep doing what we have been doing, because I don’t think we’ve done a lot wrong.

“There are going to be chances created throughout the season with the way that we play, and sometimes we’ll take those chances, sometimes we’ll not.

“We’ve got players in the team capable of putting the ball away definitely, and maybe the longer the season goes on, it’ll become clearer to us that the ball is hitting the back of the net.

“It’s still early doors yet.”

York are still without last season's injured top-scorer Josh Stones, but Barnsley-born wing-back Harry Boyes has shouldered some of the burden, two goals and four assists in his first five matches for the club winning League Two’s player of the month award.

“I've really enjoyed my start to the season, the lads have been brilliant, and I've felt good" said Boyes. “Hopefully I can keep performing at a high level and help the team keep picking up results.”
