Joe Cullen advances to PDC World Matchplay clash with Daryl Gurney in Blackpool

Cullen, who had lost all his three previous matches at the Winter Gardens, hit a maximum 170 checkout on his way to a 10-3 victory over world number 12 Gerwyn Price, who was hampered by an Achilles injury.
The 29-year-old won the first seven legs before holding off a fightback to book a second round meeting with Daryl Gurney on Tuesday night.

Hide AdCullen, ranked 18 in the world, said: “It has taken me four attempts, but a win’s a win and I’m happy.
“Gerwyn was below-par, but I had to take advantage and I did.
“Every year, in every tv event, someone has a run and who’s to say this can’t be my year?”
Yorkshire’s other representative, James Wilson, from Huddersfield, suffered an agonising 10-8 defeat by two-time world champion Adrian Lewis.
Wilson hit back from two legs behind to lead 7-3 thanks to some clinical double-hitting, but Lewis rallied to seal a tense win with a 116 finish.
